A Hanoi-based sketching group, whose members as young as six frequently wander the Vietnamese capital to capture different locations, indoors and outdoors, from what they see first-hand, showcased their works at a week-long exhibition earlier this month.

Adult painters usually look at the millennia-old capital through nostalgic lens but the young members of Urban Sketchers Hanoi, a group for kids who have an enthusiasm for street painting, make every nook and cranny of the city look bright and colorful.

The typical images of Hanoi, including the old houses, buildings, temples, and markets, are always depicted lively and vibrant through the innocent eyes of these ‘children artists.’

Urban Sketchers Hanoi organizes trips around the capital on a frequent basis for its young members to tell the story of their surroundings, the places they live, and where they travel through paintings.

Below are artworks of the little sketchers, aged six to 13, that were showcased at an exhibition from May 31 to June 7.
