This morning (Monday), the 6th meeting of the Party Central Committee, 11th session, opened in Hanoi.
Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong made the opening speech that “there are few central meetings that cover many points and have long agendas like this one. All issues to be discussed and decided on are very important and complicated”.
General Secretary Trong - together with Truong Tan Sang, State President, Nguyen Tan Dung, Prime Minister, Nguyen Sinh Hung, National Assembly chairman, and Le Hong Anh, Politburo member, standing member of the Secretariat - co-chaired the meeting.
The meeting is expected to discuss socio-economic situation in 2012 and development plans and budget for 2013; modernizing state enterprises; policies on land; comprehensive change in education system; science and technology development; deciding on potential figures for the Politburo, Secretariat, and other key figures in the Party and State; report on the criticism and self-criticism of the Politburo, Secretariat and other important issues.
