In Vietnam there is no other political force than the Communist Party that has enough will, brainpower, experience, prestige and capacity to lead the country through all difficulties to final success, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has said.

>> Vietnam’s Party leader calls for efforts to achieve development goals The chief made the statement in his speech delivered at a meeting in Hanoi on Monday to mark the 85th founding anniversary of the Party, according to the Vietnam News Agency. He stressed that the reality over the past 85 years has proved that the Party’s correct and clear-sighted leadership is the decisive factor for every victory of the Vietnamese revolution. The birth of the Party, on February 3, 1930, was a great turning point in the country’s revolutionary history, marking a milestone in its development path, General Secretary Trong said, adding that despite numerous ups and downs and mistakes at times, the Party has seriously worked to correct its shortcomings to gain the people’s trust and support. The Party has been able to lead the Vietnamese revolution to win the August Revolution in 1945 and other resistance wars to liberate and defend the nation, the Party chief said. He added that the Party has also helped the country gain many historic achievements in the Doi Moi (renovation) cause, which has been carried out for nearly 30 years now. But there remain a lot of things to do in strengthening the Party, the leader noted, saying the general direction for this task is to build a Party to be really strong and pure in all terms, from politics, ideology, ethics, organization, personnel to style of leadership. He called on the Party, the people and the army as a whole to make all-out efforts with the highest resolve to fulfill the set tasks.

General Secretary Trong expressed his belief that the Party will fulfill its missions and that the Party, the people and the army will unite as one to build a country of peace, independence, unity, democracy and prosperity, thereby steadily moving on the path to socialism.
