Numerous international tourists have arrived in Phu Quoc, an island city off Vietnam’s southern Kien Giang Province, to partake in diverse leisure activities celebrating the Vietnamese Tet break.
Restaurants, entertainment venues, and tourist attractions on the island have been bustling with visitors who came by air and sea to enjoy artistic performances, sightseeing, and local cuisine.
At times, Phu Quoc International Airport experienced overcrowding, leading to long wait times for check-in procedures.
The airport authority predicted that from January 29 to February 4 – the first to the seventh day of the Year of the Snake – over 100 flights carrying both domestic and international passengers would arrive daily for Tet celebrations.

In addition to air travel, the island anticipates a significant influx of visitors arriving by sea via express tourist boats and ferries.
“I am very impressed with the Tet celebrations in Vietnam, especially in Phu Quoc. The fireworks display was magnificent. Everything was amazing. This has been the best New Year celebration of my life,” shared Kira, a Russian tourist.
Domestic and international tourists, including visitors from China, Taiwan, South Korea, and European countries, flocked to popular destinations such as Hoang Hon (Sunset) Town, Grand World Phu Quoc resort, and Phu Quoc Night Market.

Many engaged in sightseeing, photography, watched music and art performances and indulged in Phu Quoc’s renowned seafood specialties.
Nguyen Minh Tam, director of Tam Dang Khoa Tourism Service One Member Company Limited in An Thoi Ward, reported that since January 28, one day ahead of Lunar New Year’s Eve, destinations such as May Rut Trong, May Rut Ngoai and Gam Ghi islands have attracted large numbers of travelers enjoying popular water activities, including parasailing, snorkeling, and underwater fish feeding.
"This year, we have maintained stable tour prices. We accommodate around 30 groups of international tourists daily, and at times, we cannot meet the increasing demand from foreign visitors.
“Other entertainment spots are also packed at night. The past few days have seen a remarkable surge in international arrivals," Tam excitedly shared.

According to the Kien Giang Department of Tourism, from January 28 to 30, the province welcomed more than 131,000 visitors.
Of these, Phu Quoc alone received about 93,400 visitors, including 27,694 international tourists, generating a total revenue of over VND700 billion (US$27.9 million).
Bui Quoc Thai, director of the department, emphasized that local authorities have been instructed to enhance supervision to ensure compliance with regulations on service quality, price transparency, and food safety.
Additionally, measures are being implemented to prevent issues such as overcharging, tied selling, and other practices that could negatively impact Phu Quoc's tourism reputation.
