Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Dinh La Thang convened a meeting with Laotian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Thongsavanh Phomvihane on Sunday morning, discussing the Laos-Vietnam relationship.

Secretary Thang congratulated his guest on his recent appointment as the Laotian ambassador to Vietnam.

The Party chief expressed his content with the relationship between Vietnam and Laos, a foundation created by late Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh and his Laotian counterpart Kaysone Phomvihane and fostered by the two Parties, states, and peoples.

Citizens of Ho Chi Minh City will exert their best effort to contribute to the consistent development of the special and traditional friendship between the two nations, Secretary Thang asserted.

On the same day the Vietnamese official also held talks with Nam Vinhaket, Party Committee Secretary of the Lao province of Attapeu.

Vinhaket expressed his joy at being able to visit the southern Vietnamese metropolis and extended his appreciation for the support that Ho Chi Minh City authorities have provided for Attapeu Province in the fields of human resources, information and technology, and others.

The Laotian official hoped that the Vietnamese city would continue offering assistance to his hometown in terms of education and training by sending Vietnamese teachers to Attapeu to help improve the quality of local education, and by opening opportunities for Laotian students to study in Vietnam.
