Vietnam and Poland have consented to a tighter relationship and closer cooperation between the two countries’ parliamentarians on the occasion of a state visit to Vietnam by Polish President Andrzej Duda.

A meeting between the Vietnam-Poland and Poland-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians’ Groups was convened in Hanoi on Wednesday, as part of President Duda’s trip to the Southeast Asian country from November 27 to 30.

During the gathering, Vice-Chairman of the law-making National Assembly Phung Quoc Hien praised the results of talks and meetings between the Polish head of state and Vietnam’s high-ranking leaders.

Hien believed that the visit marks a milestone and gives an impetus to the friendship and cooperation between the two nations.

He called on the two countries’ parliamentarians to increase their exchange of delegations and legislative experience, and support each other at multilateral forums.

The NA official suggested that Hanoi and Warsaw continue building and completing a legal framework for facilitating economic cooperation, and resume the operation of the Vietnam-Poland Joint Committee on Science and Technology Cooperation.

President of the Vietnam-Poland Parliamentarians’ Group Le Thi Nga stated that the two groups should actively promote bilateral collaboration as well as ties between the two nations’ legislative bodies.

President of the Poland-Vietnam Parliamentarians’ Group Pan Grzegorz Napieraski hoped that the two sides would further exchange policies on agricultural development, business communities, science and technology application, and environmental protection.

Speaking at the gathering, President Duda praised the role of the two parliamentarians’ groups in fostering bilateral relations, expressing his belief that the existing friendship between the two countries will bring cooperation to a new height.

On the evening of the same day, the Polish leader arrived in Ho Chi Minh City to prepare for his speech at the Vietnam-Poland Business Forum on Thursday.

He is also scheduled to attend the inauguration of the representative office of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency, and meet Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong.
