The Party and State leaders of Laos and Cambodia on Saturday sent their respective messages of congratulations to State President To Lam on his election as General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee.

In his letter, General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith extended the warmest congratulations to President Lam on his election as General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam earlier on the same day.

General Secretary and President Thongloun evaluated that Lam’s election to the important position reflects the trust and high regard that the Party, the State, and the people of Vietnam have in the Vietnamese leader’s capabilities, extensive experience, and outstanding achievements in the leadership and direction over the past time.

He expressed strong belief that under the correct, sound, and wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, headed by Lam, the brotherly Vietnamese people will continue to achieve even greater accomplishments in the cause of renewal, successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and fulfill the goal of building a modern, industrialized Vietnam with a prosperous populace, a strong nation, a just, democratic, and civilized society, and a developed socialist-oriented country.

The Lao leader affirmed his commitment to stand side by side with General Secretary Lam and leaders of the Vietnamese Party and State to continue strengthening and nurturing the Laos-Vietnam, Vietnam-Laos great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation in a more intensive and effective way in all areas to bring practical benefits to the people of our two countries as well as contributing to peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.

“On this important and meaningful occasion, I wish you abundant health, happiness, and great success in your honorable and noble career,” General Secretary Thongloun said as he wrapped up his congratulatory letter.

On the same day, in his congratulatory message to General Secretary To Lam, President of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) Hun Sen also expressed his joy and congratulations on behalf of the CPP Committee.

The Cambodian leader said Lam’s election as General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam demonstrates the trust of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the entire Vietnamese people in his capabilities and sound leadership.

He firmly believes that under General Secretary Lam’s leadership, the Communist Party of Vietnam will continue to achieve its goals, ensure political stability and socio-economic development, and maintain peace, stability and prosperity of Vietnam and the region as well.

In addition, the traditional friendship, solidarity, and close cooperation between the two parties will be further deepened for the benefit of our two nations and people.
