Vietnam's Vice-State President Vo Thi Anh Xuan received Thai Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and a Thai royal delegation on a working visit to Vietnam on Tuesday.
Princess Maha visits Vietnam from Tuesday to Thursday at the invitation of Vice-State President Xuan.
The Thai princess’ visit is expected to contribute to enhancing the two countries’ cooperation in various sectors, especially in education and people-to-people exchanges.
During her trip, Princess Maha is scheduled to visit Nam Cuong Elementary School in northern Lao Cai Province and Nguyen Tat Thanh Elementary School in north-central Quang Tri Province.
The Vietnam - Thailand enhanced strategic partnership has developed more intensively and practically on the basis of mutual respect, trust, and benefits.
Thailand remains Vietnam’s largest trade partner in ASEAN and its ninth-biggest investor.

The two sides’ cooperation in security, national defense, education and training, culture, tourism, finance, and people-to-people exchanges is developing positively.
Vietnam and Thailand have 19 pairs of twinned localities, the most in ASEAN.
During meetings between the leaders of the two nations, they affirmed their commitment to strengthening mutual understanding and connections between their peoples, particularly among younger generations, which will be achieved through cultural, sports, tourism, and education-training activities.
They also agreed to enhance the teaching of the Thai language in Vietnam and Vietnamese in Thailand, collaborate on preserving and promoting the cultural and historical values of Vietnam in Thailand, and support the implementation of Thailand’s sustainable community projects in Vietnam.

Princess Maha, born in 1955, is the third child of late King Bhumibol Adulyadej and the younger sister of King Maha Vajiralongkorn.
She has visited Vietnam many times since 1993 and has conducted charity and education projects in Vietnam.
In November last year, Nguyen Manh Hung, vice-principal of Hoang Van Thu High School for Gifted Students in Hoa Binh Province, northern Vietnam received the Thai Princess Award in recognition of his significant contributions to education and the community.
This award is presented annually to an outstanding teacher from each member country of the Southeast Asia Ministers of Education Organization, including Vietnam.
In March this year, Princess Maha wore an áo dài (Vietnam's traditional long gown) to perform the song 'Vietnam An Long' (Vietnam at Peace), which she composed herself, at Chulalongkorn University in Thailand.
During her visits to Vietnam between 1993 and 2003, the princess took many photos of the country.
The Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand has since compiled a photo book titled 'Vietnam Through the Lens of Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn,' featuring 100 of these photographs.
