Ho Chi Minh City authorities held a banquet at the headquarters of the municipal People’s Committee on Thursday evening to celebrate the 79th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day (September 2, 1945 - 2024).
The event featured the attendance of representatives from consulates general, international organizations, economic and cultural offices, foreign business associations, and non-governmental organizations operating in the city, reported the Vietnam News Agency.
Speaking at the celebration, chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Phan Van Mai presented several of Vietnam’s achievements since its establishment and throughout its development journey.
The municipal Party Committee, Ho Chi Minh City authorities, and residents have all contributed their parts to the nation’s development process, Mai said.
The city’s socio-economic development is on the rise, with its economic value doubling over the past decade.
Ho Chi Minh City’s gross regional domestic product value in the first six months of 2024 amounted to over VND567 trillion ( US$22.7 billion), marking a year-on-year increase of nearly 6.5 percent, and the highest growth in the past three years.
Ho Chi Minh City is dedicated to developing a sustainable green economy in order to continue boosting its economic growth while protecting the environment through its efforts to complete a policy framework for the city's green growth strategy to 2030 with a vision to 2050, Mai shared.
