Two thieves in the southern city of Bien Hoa Sunday failed to hijack a taxi after the driver took them directly to a police station. On August 26, Nguyen Xuan Hong, 22 and Ngo Con Phuc, 18, both from Dong Nai province, flagged down a taxi and forced the dirver, Nguyen Ngoc Diep, to drive them to Binh Phuoc Province’s Bu Dop District at knifepoint. However, as soon as they reached the destination, the robbers demanded that Diep return to Bien Hoa city as rain had flooded the street. Taking this as a good chance, Diep instead drove them directly to the police station in Bien Hoa city. After being detained, Hong and Phuc told the police that they had brought two knives in order to rob their uncle’s house in Bu Dop district. The incident is now under investigation.
