Regarding the death of a patient with an inflamed vermiform appendix, FV hospital has told local medial outlets in a press release on Tuesday that they did not agree with the conclusion about the cause of his death reached by the city’s Department of Health.

Previously, 52-year-old Mai Trung Kien, father of famous local actress Mai Thu Huyen, died after undergoing surgery to remove his vermiform appendix at the hospital on August 7.

The department’s medical council arrived at a conclusion: “Kien went into shock caused by internal bleeding after undergoing an endoscopic surgery to remove his inflamed vermiform appendix. The patient had cardiovascular disease and suffered from the after-effects of a cerebrovascular accident. Before his death, Kien took pills to prevent blood clots. His internal bleeding condition was not diagnosed and handled in a timely manner by the doctor who performed the surgery.”

FV hospital has also suggested to the medical council that they should review the conclusion.

The hospital has explained to the deceased’s family that Kien died of coronary thrombosis.
