Society:

-- The number of human traffickers in Vietnam has increased, local police said at the “Increasing international cooperation against human trafficking” conference jointly organized by Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security and UNICEF in Hanoi on July 2.

-- 19 Vietnamese fishermen have been rescued after four days adrift 110 nautical miles away from Phu Quy Island off the central province of Binh Thuan.

-- Three children aged between 7 and 10 drowned on July 2 after jumping into a river in Dai Lanh commune, Dai Loc district in the central province of Quang Nam for bathing.

-- The Ministry of Public Security has just released an official report on imposing administrative fines on owners of four large capacity motorbikes and a car used to escort Australian motivational speaker Nick Vujicic in Ho Chi Minh City in May. The drivers have been found violating traffic laws.

-- A police chief of a commune in Da Lat central highlands city is under investigation for hiring 6 people to cut off a precious wood.

-- Vietnam’s Human Development Index is at the average level and the country needs to improve that, according to a study released by the UN and Vietnam’s Foreign Ministry at a conference held in Hanoi on July 3.

Business:

- Vietnam did not see any increase in the number of Japanese visitors to the country in the first six months of 2013 and regarding this fact, Tuoi Tre did an interview with Takahiko Ohata, chairman of Overseas Tour Operators Association of Japan (OTOA).

-- Dam tron Market, a section of Dam Market in Nha Trang beachside city, will be demolished and relocated under a planning project approved by local government.

-- Defense Minister Genaral Phung Quang Thanh received First Admiral Haji Mohd Hanifa, Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy, in Hanoi on July 2, according to a VNA report.
