Binh gave the statement at a regular press conference of the ministry on Thursday when asked by reporters about Vietnam’s response to the stabbing incident in Guangxi on Tuesday. After receiving a report about the assault, the ministry ordered the Vietnamese diplomatic representative office in China to work with Chinese competent agencies as well as the Guangxi authorities to verify all the information related to the incident as well as to the relatives of the victims, Binh said. The ministry has asked the Chinese side to provide treatment for the injured and funeral services for those who died, the spokesman said. A representative from the ministry also visited the Chinese Embassy in Hanoi on Thursday to discuss the incident, Binh added. Also yesterday, a representative of the Vietnamese Consulate General in the Chinese province of Nanning worked with Guangxi’s competent agencies about the case, asking them to investigate the attack soon and provide treatment and rehabilitation for the two injured women at any cost. The deadly attack took place in a rented apartment on Zhongshan Road in Fangcheng District, Fangchenggang City in Guangxi at about 8:00 pm on July 22, according to Chinese police sources. Chinese police described the suspected murderer as a man in his mid-thirties and around 1.65m tall.

This man allegedly stabbed five Vietnamese women, killing two of them on the spot, and injuring the three others, police said.

All the injured were taken to a hospital for emergency treatment with one of them dying later, police added.
