Vietnamese rescuers past midnight on Sunday took ashore a Polish crew member who got serious injuries while on board a foreign cargo ship from China to Singapore.

Around 0am on Sunday, the search and rescue (SAR) 27-01 ship of the Vietnam Maritime Rescue Coordination Centers (MRCC) docked at Nha Trang Port in the central province of Khanh Hoa to rush  Edward Cvdisz, 53, for medical attention.

The victim is a crew member of a Malta-flagged cargo vessel called ACTACAMA.

MRCC received an emergency call from the ship around 8.30am on Saturday, saying that Cvdisz got seriously injured and partially paralyzed following an occupational accident on board while the ship was heading for Singapore from China.

MRCC instantly dispatched the SAR 27-01 ship, which braved inclement weather conditions and covered 130 nautical miles to come to the man’s aid.
