Police have caught a bus illicitly transporting many types of weapons, including Japanese swords, in central Vietnam.

Traffic cops in Quang Nam Province seized electric batons, five Japanese swords, knives, clubs and other weapons on the vehicle on Saturday, Captain Le Phan Minh Man, a deputy chief from the provincial police department, said the same day.

At 9:30 am that day, Nguyen Van Giap, the 41-year-old bus driver from the northern province of Vinh Phuc, was driving along National Highway 1 through Que Son District in Quang Nam when he was pulled over by police officers for an inspection.

Along with the illegal weapons spotted, police also found 17 bags of textile products weighing around 510kg without any documents proving their origin.

The bags were then temporarily confiscated and transferred to local market management officials.

On October 14, Quang Nam traffic police also busted a coach carrying illegal packages, containing three Japanese swords, an electric gun, eight electric batons, and others.
