Construction of the first line of the Ho Chi Minh City metro system connecting Ben Thanh Market and Suoi Tien Amusement Park began on April 4, 2014.
The main contractor, a consortium of Japan’s Sumitomo and Vietnam’s Cienco 6, and the subordinate contractor Freysinet-Rizzani-De Eccher (FVR), in charge of constructing the elevated sections of the metro line, are rushing to finish the work.
A crew of both Vietnamese and foreign workers and engineers are working day and night at the intersection opposite the Saigon Hi-Tech Park in District 9, Ho Chi Minh City.

These photos were one of the entries to Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper's year-long competition themed “Vietnam – Country – People" concluding in October last year.
It won the competition's third prize.
