Police have arrested a Vietnamese man in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong for the alleged murder of his creditor and discarding of the victim’s body at a coffee plantation.
Tran Quoc Vu, 31, was arrested on Sunday afternoon after confessing to the crime earlier that morning.
Police reports showed the victim, 27-year-old Vo Thanh Tuan, had visited Vu on January 23 to collect an overdue debt he owed to Tuan.
The two men allegedly became involved in a violent scuffle, which only ended when Vu managed to get the upper hand and strangled Tuan to death.
Vu then used Tuan’s motorbike to drive his body to a coffee plantation located 25 kilometers away for disposal.
After having not heard from Tuan for days, his family reported himmissing to police and began the search for their loved one.
Investigators were able to narrow down the suspects from looking into Tuan’s list of debtors, before coming to the conclusion that Vu was the primary suspect in the victim’s murder.
Vu confessed to the crime on Sunday morning during police interrogation.
An exhumation of Tuan’s body, which was buried at the coffee plantation, was completed in the same afternoon.
