Many Vietnamese people were arrested during dawn raids on Sunday for consuming illegal substances in two karaoke bars in a province of southern Vietnam.
At around 5:20 am, the drugs squad of Bien Hoa, the provincial capital of Dong Nai, apprehended many people, male and female, while they were in an apparent narcotic stupor in the rooms of the Kim Tien karaoke bar and Hoang Tan Hoa karaoke bar.
The raids, in a two-pronged fashion, found evidence for an illicit activity and sent to the police station all the people, 19 of whom tested positive for drugs.
Three staff members of the bars were also questioned by the police.
Authorities found that the arrested users consumed drugs in nightclubs in Bien Hoa City before moving to the karaoke bars, which open day and night.
Over the first two months of 2018, the city’s police made unexpected visits to local bars, nightclubs and restaurants, with the result that hundreds of young people using drugs were caught, and scores involved were penalized financially.
On February 14, 69 people at a nightclub in Bien Hoa tested positive for drugs.
In December 2017, the city witnessed the arrest of nearly 200 drug users all in a single nightspot where knives and batons were hidden.
