Ho Chi Minh City police on Thursday said they had busted a large-scale prostitution ring offering ‘high-end’ sexual service that involved multiple models, actresses, TV personalities and winners of beauty contests.
The showbiz figures were providing the service for US$500-7,000 per hour, making it the most ‘expensive’ prostitution ring ever busted in the country, police say.
According to the city’s criminal police division, undercover officers had tracked down members of the prostitution ring for over two years before making the bust in late August.
At 4:30 pm on August 30, two groups of police officers raided two local hotels – one on Nam Quoc Cang Street in District 1 and the other on Tran Hung Dao Street in District 5 – and found four pairs in the middle of sexual acts.
The four females were identified as sex workers, two of whom being celebrities in the modeling and television industries.
Through interrogation of those involved, police also made the arrest of Kieu Dai Du, a.k.a. ‘Pi’, a 22-year-old men who served as broker between the prostitutes and their clients.
Du confessed to using his social circles to connect with customers willing to pay the big dime to spend time with the beauties.
Customers were charged up to $7,000 for an hour-long ‘sexy time’, while those who want a girl for their own for a whole night must pay many times more.
Ho Chi Minh City police has opened investigation into the case and said their initial findings show that many more famous models and actresses are involved in the prostitution ring.
