L.V.L. is apprehended by crew members of the SE8 train on June 19, 2019 in this photo provided by the train crew.

Crew members on a Vietnamese train were able to contain a passenger they found beating his wife aboard a Saigon - Hanoi route before handing him over to police on Wednesday morning.

According to the SE8 train crew, the incident happened shortly after it departed a station in the north-central province of Ha Tinh.

The SE8 train travels from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi, with several stops along the way.

After seeing a male passenger, identified only as 51-year-old L.V.L., attacking his wife, 39-year-old D.T.C., members of the train crew intervened on the woman’s behalf.

The couple had originally boarded the train in Nha Trang and planned to disembark in Hanoi.

L. ignored their request and continued hitting C., forcing the crew to contain the attacker and isolate him in a separate rail car.

The trainmaster reported the situation to operators at the next station in Vinh City, located in the north-central province of Nghe An.

L. was forced to exit the train in Vinh at around 9:20 am where he was subsequently transferred to police custody for further investigation.
