-- A tractor caught fire and burned to ashes when carrying a trailer on a section of the Ho Chi Minh City-Long Thanh-Dau Giay Expressway passing through Binh Trung Dong Ward in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 2, causing hours-long congestion on Friday afternoon.

-- Police in Ho Chi Minh City confirmed on Friday there were 1,850 bullets and several other unlicensed weapons in the under-seat storage of a motorbike controlled by a 28-year-old man that they found suspicious on a section of National Highway 1 passing through An Phu Dong Ward in District 12 on Wednesday.

-- The deputy accounting manager of the Technical Pedagogy University Vinh in Vinh City, the capital of the north-central province of Nghe An, fell to his death from the eighth floor of a hotel in the city on Friday.

-- Hanoi is mulling implementing downtown motorbike bans when its public transport system is able to meet at least 60.5 percent of the population’s travel needs, the Transport Development Strategy Institute under the Ministry of Transport said at a conference in the Vietnamese capital city on Friday.

-- The People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City has announced that a plan to raise tap water prices in the city annually from now until 2022 will be applied next month.

-- Police in the north-central province of Ha Tinh on Friday said they captured two men for trafficking 30 heroin bricks and 6,000 methamphetamine pills the day before, the Vietnam News Agency reported.

-- The “Ninh Thuan Culture, Tourism Day” is taking place in Hanoi from October 25 to 27 to promote the unique culture and tourism potential of ethnic minorities in the south-central province to people in the Vietnamese capital city.

-- Vietnamese books have been promoted in China for the third time at the Guangxi Book Exhibition taking place at Nanning City in the Chinese province of Guangxi from October 25 to 28.

-- The eighth edition of the annual Da Lat Flower Festival, which is scheduled to take place in the namesake city of the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong from December 20-24, will include 12 big programs organized at various downtown streets and public areas, the local administration told a press conference in Ho Chi Minh City on Friday.
