The director of a company in Ca Mau Province, southern Vietnam has been suspended indefinitely after banging on a table and saying inappropriate words during a recent meeting with his employees.

Ho Hoang Anh, director of Bao Gia Ca Mau Joint Stock Company, which operates Nam Thang Ca Mau electric taxis, confirmed the information on Friday.

In a 37-second video posted to social media, a lawyer is seen explaining employees’ rights while Anh suddenly stands up, bangs on the table, and yells, “Let me cut it short! If you are not willing to continue your work, then the meeting is dismissed.”

Over 100 of the company's employees responded to Anh’s outburst by going on strike

The meeting was originally held to discuss a new company policy that requires drivers to pay the charging fees for electric taxis, while the company earlier committed to fully cover the fees.

The company has a requirement that vehicles will be maintained after running every 12,000 kilometers. However, many drivers did not receive vehicle maintenance despite driving over 24,000 kilometers.

Some had to continue to drive although vehicles showed signs of corrosion and tire damage.

Many drivers complained about the lack of two-way auto body insurance for many vehicles, leaving them liable for incidents.

Some cabbies also reported being uninsured despite the company’s contractual obligations to provide insurance.

Pham Hoang Nho, a driver for Bao Gia Ca Mau Joint Stock Company, said he and his colleagues had returned to work after reaching some agreements with the company.

In particular, they can charge vehicles at no charge until June 30, 2027. Some 70 percent of other issues have been resolved, Nho informed.
