Police in Vietnam’s Central Highlands have arrested a man for molesting a nine-grade student in the restroom of her school for nearly two hours.
Senior Lieutenant Colonel Bui Trong Tuan, police chief in Buon Ma Thuot City, Dak Lak Province, confirmed on Sunday that officers had apprehended Do Huu Bao, 22, for the offense.
Preliminary reports showed that Bao had entered Hung Vuong Middle School on Saturday morning before abusing a nine-grade schoolgirl.
According to the report submitted by the school board, Bao claimed he was the parent of a student and needed to get inside the school and give something to his child.
As the man was decently dressed, the security guard believed him and agreed to let him in.
Two students were also tasked with guiding Bao to the classroom of his ‘child.’
Bao later sneaked into the girls’ restroom, where he started molesting a ninth-grader.
He also filmed the incident with his smartphone and threatened to leak the footage if she told anyone.
After about two hours, the girl was set free and returned to her classroom, crying.
In confiding in her teacher, the student exposed the truth, and the case was reported to police officers.
A health check report said that the suspect molested the girl, elaborating that he did not have sexual intercourse with the victim.
According to Mai Thi Hong Ha, head of the city’s office of education and training, police are carrying further investigation to verify the details.
Local authorities will also look into the responsibility of the school, as they failed to notice the girl’s absence during the two hours when the molestation took place, Ha added.
