Police in the northern Vietnamese province of Bac Ninh have arrested a company director who was caught on camera pointing a rubber bullet gun at a truck driver in a road rage incident on Saturday morning.
Officers in Bac Ninh City, the provincial capital, on Monday apprehended Nguyen Van Suong, 52, for threatening to kill another person, in accordance with Article 133 under the 2015 Penal Code.
His arrest was approved by the city's People’s Procuracy earlier the same day.
Suong is director of Ham Long Security Services Company, headquartered in Suoi Hoa Ward, Bac Ninh City.
Suong was caught on camera threatening a truck driver at gunpoint during a road rage along a section of National Highway No. 18 in Van Duong Ward, Bac Ninh City on Saturday morning.
The video clip was uploaded to social media and went viral later the same day.
After acknowledging the incident, Pham The Hung, director of the provincial Department of Police, ordered officers in Bac Ninh City to verify the case.
They were able to identify Suong as the man in the video and thus searched his house.
Officers found a black Fortuner with license plate No. 99A - 306.30, which could be seen in the video, along with a gun, two rubber bullets, and one tear gas bullet.
At the police station, Suong admitted to using the gun to threaten the truck driver during their row.
Further investigation is ongoing.
