Although the third wave of flooding in the central province Quang Tri receded significantly by Tuesday afternoon, many places are still submerged.
Quang Tri has suffered three back-to-back floods over a span of six days.
By Tuesday noon, several areas adjoining the Thach Han River had been isolated by floodwater, despite the fact that water levels had dropped by around one meter from the peak recorded on Monday night.
Many cars were seen stuck on Thanh Co (Ancient Citadel) Bridge as the road ahead of them was about 0.5 to one meter deep in water.
The route connecting National Highway 1 with Trieu Thanh Commune of Trieu Phong District is also inundated, forcing local residents to travel by boat only.
Communes of Trieu Phong District are among the hardest-hit areas.
