More than 500 professors, doctors, and nurses will be in charge of providing medical assistance and monitoring the health of all delegates and staff members during the upcoming Party Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
The Ministry of Health on Sunday organized a medical exercise to review preparedness for the 13th National Party Congress, which will be held in Hanoi from January 25 to February 2.
The exercise included five key components, namely COVID-19 epidemic control and environmental sanitation, sampling and handling infected cases, food poisoning control and treatment, emergency treatment of patients, and emergency treatment of mass radioactive contamination.

Over 500 professors, doctors, and nurses will be in charge of providing medical assistance and monitoring the health of all delegates and staff members during the Congress, according to Luong Ngoc Khue, a senior official from the Ministry of Health.
These health workers are from Huu Nghi Hospital, Bach Mai Hospital, Hanoi Heart Hospital, 108 Military Central Hospital, and National Hospital for Tropical Diseases.
An emergency center with equipment for extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), rapid-result COVID-19 testing, and ultrasound, among others will be set up at the location where the Congress takes place.

Samples of suspected COVID-19 patients will also be sent to the National Lung Hospital, and the results will be returned in 60 minutes.
The location will be thoroughly disinfected one day before the Congress commences and every day during the Congress, said Tran Thi Nha Ha, deputy director of the Hanoi Department of Health.
The 13th National Party Congress will be different from those in the past as it takes place against the backdrop of the complicated COVID-19 pandemic, Tran Quoc Vuong, Politburo member and head of the organizing sub-committee, said, adding that the healthcare sector, police force, and army have been preparing to ensure safety and success for the important event.
