Heavy rain and wind gusts on Monday afternoon uprooted a tree in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, crushing a passing motorbike and injuring two riders.
The incident transpired around 2:00 pm on Nguyen Cong Tru Street in Nguyen Thai Binh Ward, where the two victims, 41-year-old Tran Thi Thuy L. and an unidentified driver, were passing when the tree fell on them.
It was later revealed that the driver was transporting L. on a Grab ride.
Nearby residents promptly brought the two victims to the hospital, while officials also showed up to seal off the scene for an investigation.
The motorbike’s headlights were shattered, while the steering handle bar was dislocated.
Heavy rain coupled with strong winds on Monday also caused several trees in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 7 to be uprooted, damaging one car.
