About 44 houses were damaged and crops were devastated by hail and strong gusts in the north-central Vietnamese province of Quang Tri on Tuesday evening.
The hail and gusts took place for 30 minutes in Tan Long Commune, Huong Hoa District, the commune’s chairman Vo Van Cuong said later on the same evening.
The incident affected at least 44 houses, 17 of which had their roofs completely blown off, according to Cuong.
In addition, many farming areas where banana, longan, and mango trees were expected to be harvested were seriously damaged.
After the gusts passed, residents living in affected houses were taken to a community learning center for temporary shelter.
The same sudden strong wind also unroofed a checkpoint for COVID-19 prevention and control in Tan Thanh Commune in the same district.
