A house on Vo Van Kiet Street in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 5 on Monday afternoon partially collapsed, with two people escaping on their own and three others safely rescued by local authorities.
Rescuers received a report of the house collapse at around 5:15 pm on Monday.
When they arrived at the scene, two of the five people in the collapsed house had managed to get out by themselves.
The rescuers found ways to take two others out and rush them to Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital in the same district, before rescuing the remaining person trapped on the second floor of the house, using a ladder truck.

“When I was in my house, I heard something that sounded like loud thunderclaps,” a local witness told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper after the incident.
“I ran out and saw a nearby house collapse, followed by a thick dust cloud and many people screaming.
“What a panicking scene!”
Authorities determined the original cause of the incident was the construction of the house next door.
Police officers have cordoned off the scene to facilitate an investigation into the case.
