-- Hanoi Metro Co. Ltd., the operator of the Cat Linh - Ha Dong urban railway project, said on Tuesday evening that the 30-minute signal problem earlier the same afternoon, during which a train was suspended from departing Cat Linh Station and more than 30 passengers had their fares reimbursed, was only an unannounced drill.

-- A woman died on Monday after undergoing abdominal liposuction at a cosmetic clinic in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, marking the third serious cosmetic complication reported in the past two months, health authorities said on Tuesday.

-- Saigon Water Corporation (Sawaco), Ho Chi Minh City’s water supplier, will cut or reduce its service in eight districts in the southern metropolis and several wards in Thu Duc City between Saturday evening and Sunday morning for system maintenance and pipeline troubleshooting.

-- Health authorities on Tuesday resumed the operation of COVID-19 field hospital No. 12 in Thu Duc City under Ho Chi Minh City in preparation for offering treatment to patients contracting the Omicron coronavirus variant.

-- Many overseas Vietnamese have complained about the exorbitant costs for a repatriation flight, including pricey quarantine fees at a limited number of designated hotels, while the airfare just makes up a fraction.

-- The Ministry of Transport on Tuesday proposed Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh allow the resumption of regular international commercial flights from December 15 and scrap the quarantine regulation for passengers who have got enough doses of COVID-19 vaccine and a negative test certificate. 

-- Six enterprises have exported 10 metric tons of star apples from Ke Sach District in the Mekong Delta province of Soc Trang to the U.S., Nguyen Thanh Phuoc, head of the provincial Plant Protection and Cultivation Sub-department, said on Tuesday.

-- All five Vietnamese high school students competing at the 14th International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA) won medals, according to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training.

-- The Japanese government has conferred an Order of the Rising Sun on Vietnam’s Nguyen Duc Hoe, former principal of Dong Du Japanese Language Center in Ho Chi Minh City, for his tireless efforts in popularizing the Japanese language in the southern Vietnamese metropolis.
