A man from Nghe An Province, north-central Vietnam suffered severe burns and his two-story house was seriously damaged following an explosion allegedly caused by homemade firecrackers on Monday.

In the wake of a blast at around 2:00 pm on Monday, many people in Nghi Phu Commune of Vinh City in Nghe An saw the two-story house of 33-year-old L. was cracked, with its furniture badly damaged.

All windows on the first and second floors of his neighbor’s house on the opposite side were also shattered by the force of the explosion.

As local residents ran to the site, they found L. lying on the floor covered in blood.

L. was rushed to hospital for emergency treatment with serious injuries and burns.

As police in Vinh City examined L.’s house at 4:00 pm on the same day, they noticed that there were a lot of shredded paper and a smell of explosives inside.

The officers have thus suspected that homemade firecrackers led to the detonation.
