The Ministry of Health logged 86,054 coronavirus patients in Vietnam on Friday, together with 87,463 recoveries and 33 virus-related deaths.
The newest cases, including one imported and 86,053 domestic transmissions, were detected in 62 provinces and cities, the health ministry said.
Vinh Phuc Province recorded 15,700 of the latest local cases, including 13,498 added from previous days; Hanoi 7,734; Nghe An Province 3,226; Dak Lak Province 3,099; Bac Giang Province 2,705; Quang Ninh Province 2,450; Quang Binh Province 2,030; Bac Ninh Province 1,375; Vinh Long Province 1,331; Binh Dinh Province 1,226; Ca Mau Province 1,135; Lam Dong Province 1,088; Binh Duong Province 982; Da Nang 734; Ho Chi Minh City 725; Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province 524; Khanh Hoa Province 323; and Can Tho City 48.
The health ministry documented 92,344 infections on Thursday.
Vietnam has confirmed 9,642,929 community transmissions in all its 63 provinces and cities since the fourth virus wave broke out on April 27, 2021. More than 7.6 million of them have recovered from COVID-19.
Hanoi is the largest epicenter with 1,482,718 patients, followed by Ho Chi Minh City with 595,310, Nghe An Province 395,097, Binh Duong Province with 377,548, Hai Duong Province 345,273, Bac Ninh Province 326,300, Ca Mau Province 143,168, Tay Ninh Province with 129,514, Hai Phong City 116,317, Binh Phuoc Province 110,924, Dong Nai Province with 106,118, Da Nang with 94,697, and Can Tho City with 48,979.
Vietnam registered only 1,570 locally-transmitted infections in total in the previous three waves.
The health ministry announced 87,463 recovered patients on Friday, raising the national count to 7,606,476.
The toll has risen to 42,526, with 33 pathogen-linked fatalities added today.
Vietnam has reported 9,650,663 cases in total since the COVID-19 pandemic first hit the country in early 2020.
Health workers have administered upwards of 206.3 million vaccine doses, including 231,292 shots on Thursday, since inoculation was rolled out nationwide on March 8, 2021.
Over 189 million doses have been given to the adult demographic of the country’s 98 million people, including 71,242,599 first shots, 68,054,650 second doses, 14,915,208 additional primary jabs, and 33,432,786 boosters.
A combined 17,183,720 shots have been injected into children aged 12-17, including 8,807,182 first doses and 8,376,538 second jabs.
