Northern Vietnam is expected to be affected by a heatwave following recent downpours, while rains and thunderstorms will remain in the forecast in southern provinces.
Rainfall of 30-100 millimeters was recorded in northern localities on Wednesday, according to the National Center for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting.
Rains in northern Vietnam are forecast to decrease in intensity on Thursday, the central continued, adding that a heatwave will bake the region from Friday to Sunday.
The highest temperatures will reach 35-36 degrees Celsius.
The heatwave will also affect the weather condition in localities from north-central Thanh Hoa Province to south-central Phu Yen Province between Thursday and Monday.
The average highs will be about 36-38 degrees Celsius, and above 39 degrees Celsius in some locations.
The scorching weather in northern and central localities will begin to subside after Monday.
Meanwhile, rains accompanied by thunderstorms will continue dampening southern Vietnam and the Central Highlands over the next few days.
The average rain volume in the regions will be 10-60 millimeters.
On Thursday, it will be partly sunny during the day, while medium to heavy rains will fall in the afternoon and evening.
The average lows will be 21-24 degrees Celsius, and the highs will be 30-33 degrees Celsius.
