Three teen boys in the northern Vietnamese city of Hai Phong were honored on Monday for successfully rescuing a 70-year-old woman on the verge of drowning.
The Hai Phong Chapter of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union held a ceremony on the day to pay tribute to Pham Van Tu, a tenth grader of Ly Thai To High School in Le Chan District, and Do Dinh Phuc and Do Van Son, two other tenth-grade students of Edison High School in Kien An District.
Tu, Phuc, and Son heard a cry for help while working part-time during their summer break at an eatery near the An Duong Bridge crossing over the Tam Bac River in Le Chan District on the afternoon of June 4.

Upon discovering a 70-year-old woman struggling in the river, the three teen boys jumped into the water, swam toward the woman, and brought her to shore safely.
The trio left the scene shortly after without leaving their identities while a video recording their heroic rescue went viral on Facebook.
The municipal youth union chapter was then able to verify that Tu, Phuc, and Son were the brave rescuers in the footage and decided to formally praise them for their fearless action.
