Police in Dak Lak Province, located in Vietnam's Central Highlands, arrested a 47-year-old man on Wednesday for producing more than 100 metric tons of counterfeit fertilizer worth over VND1.5 billion (US$64,677).

H.T.D., a 47-year-old resident of Buon Ma Thuot City in Dak Lak, was apprehended for producing and trading counterfeit goods, according to police officers.

During an inspection at D.’s residence at 96 Ly Chinh Thang Street in Buon Ma Thuot City and a warehouse in Hoa Thuan Commune of the same city on Monday, police officers discovered more than 100 metric tons of counterfeit fertilizer worth over VND1.5 billion, which D. manufactured from raw materials of unknown origin.

The bogus fertilizer products were labeled as made in the USA.

Police confiscated the counterfeit fertilizer and 30 metric tons of the indeterminate raw materials before proceeding with arresting D. in order to investigate the case.
