The footbridges have become ideal places for drug users any time of the day, but a scary walk for pedestrians, who have to watch their every step to avoid treading on used needles and syringes that are everywhere on those structures.
Some pedestrians even make detours over the sight of suspected drug addicts on the walkways.
“A young man even brought a child and injected himself in front of the kid,” T.H., a local living near the No. 3 footbridge, recalled his recent sight of a drug addict shooting up.
Following a report by Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper on Friday, the People’s Committee of Ward 13 in Binh Thanh District, where the said footbridge is located, sent staff there to collect used needles and syringes.
