Six traffic police officers in Chi Linh City, Hai Duong Province, northern Vietnam were detained on Wednesday for using breathalyzers which are not authorized by the Ministry of Public Security.
On Thursday evening, the Hai Duong police informed that the six police officers last Saturday stopped many vehicles to check the alcohol concentration of their drivers but used unauthorized breathalyzers.
The six were Bui Manh Tuan, Nguyen Van Bang, Nguyen Van Tuan, Mac Quoc Phuong, Nguyen Thanh Trung, and Truong Manh Dang, who are officers of the traffic-order police team under the Chi Linh City police department.
The provincial People’s Procuracy on Thursday approved decisions to arrest them on charges of abusing positions and powers while on duty.
