An airport employee in Can Tho – a city in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta region – has been rewarded with a pair of flight tickets by domestic carrier Bamboo Airways for reporting a passenger’s lost suitcase which contained more than US$42,000.
Duong Ngoc Tien, a luggage trolley collector at Can Tho International Airport, received the reward from a representative of Bamboo Airways on Wednesday as recognition for his good conduct while on duty.
At 9:00 pm on Tuesday, Tien noticed a suitcase had been left unattended at the terminal while he was collecting luggage trolleys used by passengers from Bamboo Airways flight QH1431 from Hanoi to Can Tho.

Tien handed the suitcase over to the appropriate department. Shortly after, a baggage inspection team discovered VND1 billion ($42,360) in cash and some personal belongings inside the suitcase.
After coordinating with the airline to identify who the owner of the suitcase was, airport authorities determined that it belonged to Tran Van Ph.
The suitcase was then returned.
Bamboo Airways later rewarded Tien with a pair of return domestic flight tickets, commenting that his good act set a good example to other airport employees.
The airport authorities said they were proceeding with procedures to give a reward to Tien.
