Border guards officers in Quang Tri Province, located in north-central Vietnam, said on Friday afternoon that they had detered a man from transporting up to 210,000 drug pills from Laos into the country.
A border patrol of Quang Tri detected and pulled over a suspicious motorcyclist carrying several packages near the Vietnam-Laos border in the Vietnamese province’s Huong Hoa District on Thursday.
The patrol inspected the packages and found out that they contained about 210,000 pills of synthetic drugs.
The motorcyclist, whose identity has not yet been released, then admitted to carrying the aforementioned amount of drugs from Laos into Vietnam.
The case is being further investigated.
Many large drug trafficking rings have used the Vietnam-Laos border area in Huong Hoa District as a transportation hub in Vietnam for distribution to many parts of the country.
Quang Tri’s functional forces have broken up dozens of extremely large cases of drug transportation and have prevented the distribution of millions of drug pills over the years.
