Several streets in Da Lat City, located in Vietnam’s Central Highlands province of Lam Dong, were flooded after an around-one-hour rain on Friday afternoon, provoking concerns among local inhabitants.
Tran Quoc Toan Street in Ward 1, Phan Dinh Phung Street in Ward 2, and Mac Dinh Chi Street in Ward 4 were among the affected routes, with lots of fallen trees.
A section at the end of Phan Dinh Phung Street was badly hit, as local houses along this section were submerged under some 0.5-meter deep rainwater during the peak of the rain, the locals said.

Nguyen Thi Mung, whose house is located on Phan Dinh Phung Street, said the rainwater plus water overflowing from the nearby Cam Ly spring flowed into her house and kept rising.
The street has suffered flooding over the past two years.
Before undergoing repair, the street never experienced flooding regardless of prolonged heavy rains.

“My goods and household items were damaged just after a one-hour rain.
“I can’t imagine how this street would be like if it rains at night,” Mung said while she was crying and cleaning up her flooded house.
A section of Tran Quoc Toan Street skirting Cu Hill was also deluged by rainwater.
The partial flooding caused by heavy rains did not take a toll on tourism activities in Da Lat, a popular destination in the country, but it affected the daily life of the locals.
