Police in southern Long An and Dong Thap Provinces are verifying a case in which a married couple were shot while traveling on a National Highway N2 section in the border area between the two provinces last weekend.

A Facebook user made a post on Saturday that spread the news of a man and his wife who were shot while traveling on a motorbike from An Giang Province to Binh Duong Province last Friday night.

When they passed an intersection in My An Town, Thap Muoi District, Dong Thap Province at about 0:00 on Saturday, two unknown people followed them.

The husband asked his wife to ride the motorbike as he was afraid that she might face danger if she sat on the back.

The two unknown people later overtook the couple, barred their way, and used a gun that was like an airgun to shoot the husband’s helmet and the wife’s left calf.

One of the two unknown people also attacked the husband with a knife but his smart phone in his pocket saved him.

The couple later continued their journey.

A tow truck escorted them to a makeshift shop along a National Highway N2 section in Thu Thua District, Long An Province so the wife could receive first-aid.

The shooting left a scratch on her left calf and pierced the husband’s helmet.

After a person on the tow truck uploaded the information on Facebook, many netizens have voiced their anxiety over the case.
