-- Vietnamese State President Luong Cuong and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Sunday sent messages of condolence to Acting President of South Korea Choi Sang Mok over the Jeju Air plane crash which caused 179 fatalities and two injuries earlier the same day.
-- Vietnamese Party General Secretary To Lam and a delegation of central officials offered flowers and incense at the national special historical relic site of Dong Loc T-junction in the north-central province of Ha Tinh on Sunday, in memory of heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives for national liberation.
Society
-- Vietnam reported 131 food poisoning incidents from January to November, affecting nearly 4,800 people and resulting in 21 deaths. Compared to the same period in 2023, the number of incidents rose by seven, the number of infections increased by 2,677, and deaths decreased by seven.
-- The People’s Committee of Thua Thien-Hue Province in central Vietnam held a groundbreaking ceremony on Sunday for the renovation and construction of the new Dong Da apartment building in Phu Nhuan Ward, Hue City. The project, covering 8,664 square meters, will feature three basements, 25 floors, and 669 apartments, with a total investment of over VND1.3 trillion (US$51 million).
-- Vietnam’s state utility EVN began construction of the 249.5-meter-long, nine-meter-wide Hieu Liem Bridge over the Dong Nai River in Vinh Cuu District, Dong Nai Province, as part of the Tri An Hydropower Plant expansion project, on Sunday.

-- Eight ancient trees, each over a century old, at the Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City have been designated as Vietnam’s heritage trees.
-- The Archdiocese of Ho Chi Minh City held the opening mass of the Holy Year, or Jubilee, at Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica of Saigon in District 1 on Sunday, drawing around 2,500 parishioners.

-- Naturalized striker Nguyen Xuan Son scored a brace to lead Vietnam to a 3-1 victory over Singapore in the second leg of their 2024 ASEAN Championship semifinal at Viet Tri Stadium in Phu Tho Province on Sunday night. The win secured Vietnam’s spot in the finale with an aggregate score of 5-1 over the two legs.
