Ho Chi Minh City police said on Thursday that they had busted a prostitution ring with flight attendants and models selling sex to customers for US$1,000-3,000.

Vo Thi My Hanh, a 26-year-old resident of Go Vap District who used to be a flight attendant for an airline and quit on October 5, 2022, was determined by investigators to be the mastermind behind the prostitution network.

According to results from a police investigation, Hanh had a network of flight attendants from various Vietnamese airlines and well-known photographic models for whom she acted as a pimp.

Cultivating the identity of a prosperous young woman on social media and amassing over 300,000 followers across platforms, she regularly showcased her opulent lifestyle, shared photos from visits to prestigious and renowned locations, and spent massive amounts of money on luxury brands in order to lure young women into working with her.

Hanh instructed the women to exclusively communicate and arrange sexual transactions through online platforms, hired luxury cars for their transport, and selected hotels and resorts as venues for them to meet with customers.

At the time of her arrest, Hanh had been managing a group of more than 30 escorts comprised of flight attendants, young women, and photographic models.

Several of these models were sent to meet with clients in provinces and cities across Vietnam.

On Wednesday, during an inspection at a hotel located on Le Thi Rieng Street in Ben Thanh Ward, District 1, police officers caught four women red-handed providing prostitution services for clients.

The four prostitutes were 31-year-old flight attendant N.T.A., 27-year-old flight attendant H.N.Q.T., 28-year-old flight attendant N.H.K.V., and 30-year-old photographic model L.T.T.N.

Officers then apprehended Hanh on charges of brokering prostitution.

At the police station, the four sex workers described Hanh as their intermediary for sexual transactions at the hotel, each of which cost the clients $1,000-3,000.

The four women and Hanh all admitted to their involvement in the prostitution ring.

Hanh elaborated that she shared photos of the women dressed in airline stewardess uniforms with potential customers to lure them.

The fee for a single session of sexual services was approximately VND27 million ($1,136), while overnight arrangements reached about VND60 million ($2,526).

Hanh received payments directly from clients through wire transfers and subsequently disbursed the funds to the prostitutes after each successful transaction.

She obtained a commission of VND7 million ($295) for each brokerage engagement.

In addition to her intermediary role, Hanh personally offered sexual services at a comparable rate, facilitated by influential figures who acted as brokers for prominent individuals in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province.
