Hanoi is targeting the completion of construction for four big general hospitals at its gateways in 2025, according to a hospital investment and upgrade plan recently signed by Duong Duc Tuan, vice-chairman of the municipal People’s Committee.

The construction will help the capital city fulfill its target of 30-35 beds for every 10,000 people by 2025.

As per the plan, the city will increase the number of beds at healthcare facilities and all-level hospitals from now until 2030 to have a total of 21,880 patient beds in 2025 and 24,380 beds by 2030.

The city will also strive to better its healthcare workforce and improve the quality of medical treatment to serve residents.

The plan is part of the city’s implementation of an action program issued by the Hanoi Party Committee in March to advance its socioeconomic development.

As for education, the city plans to grow the number of public schools to up to 140 by 2025, and 150 by 2030.

Meanwhile, the number of private schools is expected to reach 112-116 in 2025, and 125-130 by 2030.

The capital city also aims to raise its urbanization rate to 62 percent in 2025, and some 65-75 percent in 2030.
