A family has been slapped with an administrative fine after erecting a massive wedding pavilion on a busy road alongside the Hanoi Highway in Thu Duc City, an administrative unit of Ho Chi Minh City, last weekend.

Photos of the three meter by 10 meter wedding pavilion sparked criticism immediately after they were posted to social media.

Notably, the images showed that pavilion had been set up on a road immediately beside the Hanoi Highway, an important route with high daily traffic.

Many netizens expressed disapproval that the wedding party had taken over such an important road.

Much of the criticism centered around the danger that such road encroachments pose to both wedding party goers and commuters.

An official of the People’s Committee of Linh Trung Ward in Thu Duc City, which was determined as the location where the photos had been taken, on Monday said that T.L., the local resident whose family was hosting the wedding party, had been summoned.

It was confirmed that the wedding party was organized on Sunday.

Authorities made a record of L.’s case and levied an administrative fine.
