-- Ho Chi Minh City is keen on learning from Seine River bank planning from France to develop the Saigon River and preserve cultural relics, secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen told newly-appointed French Ambassador to Vietnam Olivier Brochet on Wednesday.

-- Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son and his Lithuanian counterpart Gabrielius Landsbergis, who is on a visit to Vietnam, reached a consensus on deeper cooperation in the hi-tech, information technology, agriculture, and tourism fields during their meeting on Wednesday. 

-- The United Kingdom is committed to helping turn Ho Chi Minh City into a regional healthcare innovation hub, heard a meeting between UK Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Emily Hamblin and officials from the municipal Department of Health on Wednesday.

-- A 56-year-old teacher in Binh Thuan Province, south-central Vietnam was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly sexually abusing two elementary school students many times.

-- Three people died on the spot and one was severely injured after a head-on crash between two motorcycles in Chu Prong District under Gia Lai Province, located in the Central Highlands region, on Wednesday.

-- UK-headquartered John Swire & Sons will keep expanding its investment, especially in the aviation and health sectors, in Vietnam, chairman of the firm Guy Bradley said at a meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in Hanoi on Tuesday.

-- Long An Province authorities have signed a decision allowing Green City Development JSC, a subsidiary of property conglomerate Vingroup’s Vinhomes, to develop the Hau Nghia - Duc Hoa new urban area project, covering 197.2 hectares and costing an estimated VND28.2 trillion (US$1.15 billion).

-- Thai firms place great trust in Vietnam’s potential and investment climate, and desire to expand their reach in the country, Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara told Prime Minister Chinh during their talks on Wednesday. The top Thai official had earlier arrived in Vietnam on the same day for his two-day official visit.

Tourism

-- South Korean airlines Korean Air, Jin Air, and Jeju Air are set to launch commercial flights from the East Asian nation to Phu Quoc Island off Kien Giang Province in southern Vietnam in November and December.
