The administration of Thu Duc City under Ho Chi Minh City has proposed developing a sunflower field spanning 5,000-6,000 square meters on the Saigon River bank in Thu Duc, which is currently polluted.

The sunflower field will be estalished behind An Khanh Temple, overlooking the banks of the Saigon River as a distinctive and imaginative symbol for Thu Duc City.

This place is anticipated to become a remarkable spot for photos and draw the interest of numerous visitors, especially the young generation.

This is a component of a plan to revitalize the Saigon River bank area, which stretches approximately 830 meters in length and 50 meters in width from Ba Son Bridge to the roof of the Thu Thiem Tunnel on the Thu Thiem side in Thu Duc City.

The riverside landscape in this area has been neglected, left undeveloped, and is currently marred by pollution.

The Thu Duc People’s Committee evaluates that the revitalization of the Saigon River bank on the Thu Thiem side is of pressing importance to maintain environmental hygiene and establish a landscape that matches the opposite Bach Dang Wharf in Ho Chi Minh City’s central area.

Therefore, more recreational spaces should be made available to the public while they await the construction of a park along the riverbank and a square in line with the city’s planning.

To execute the plan, the Thu Duc People’s Committee has put forth a total of 14 work items, including a community residential zone, a multi-purpose community square, parking facilities, restroom facilities, enhancements to the wharf, a stone park, a riverside park, an ecological park, a floating raft system for aquatic plants, a fountain, and the cultivation of a sunflower field.

Additionally, the plan involves the design of a fireworks area and the installation of LED systems for advertising.

In particular, the ecological park will be developed on areas characterized by low, intermediate, and inundated terrain, predominantly occupied by frangipani and nipa palm trees, providing areas for leisurely walks and recreational activities for the public.

In addition, selected areas will be adorned with lotus and water lily plantations.

A sequence of floating rafts constructed from repurposed drums, alongside reinforcing and connecting materials, will serve as platforms for cultivating aquatic plants, water grass, or decorative flowers.

These rafts, decorated with solar-powered LED lights that illuminate the area at night, will complement the riverside landscape, adding to the beauty and charm of the surroundings.

The parking facilities, situated on the right side of the Ba Son Bridge base, will cover approximately 10,000 square meters to accommodate the parking requirements of both local residents and visitors enjoying the riverside spaces.

Moreover, public restrooms are planned to be positioned in two separate locations, each featuring eight cubicles.

The financing for these renovations will be obtained through private sources.
