Soc Trang Province in southern Vietnam and DinTsun Vietnam Enterprises Ltd. officially inaugurated the Xay Da B Industrial Cluster project in Chau Thanh District on Friday morning, which has a price tag of approximately VND900 billion (US$34.8 million) and is expected generate 10,000 jobs.
This marks the first industrial cluster project in Soc Trang Province to attract foreign direct investment.
Construction began on the 54-hectare project in 2023.
The industrial cluster primarily focuses on industries such as food production, agricultural and seafood processing, export goods, machinery manufacturing, electronics, textiles, paper box production, dyeing, and other auxiliary industries supporting agricultural products.
Tran Van Lau, chairman of the People’s Committee of Soc Trang Province, stated that in the face of challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and material shortages, the investors had implemented various proactive solutions.
As a result, the infrastructure was completed in line with the approved plan.
“When secondary projects are completed and operational, the Xay Da B Industrial Cluster is expected to create jobs for approximately 10,000 workers, contributing to the province’s industrial production value and socio-economic development,” Lau said.
In addition to the Xay Da B cluster, the An Nghiep Industrial Zone in Chau Thanh District has already filled its secondary investor slots, providing employment for about 22,000 workers.
The Tran De Industrial Zone, which is being developed by Ha Thanh Investment Corporation with an investment of over VND1.2 trillion ($46.5 million), is also set to complete its infrastructure by the end of this month.
Once fully occupied by secondary investors, the zone is expected to create employment for around 15,000 workers.
