The Ho Chi Minh City Police have launched a special 50-day and night campaign from April 1 to May 20 to achieve outstanding results in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of southern Vietnam and Reunification Day (April 30, 1975-2025) and the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890-2025).

The event was attended by Duong Ngoc Hai, permanent vice-chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee; Major General Cao Dang Hung, deputy chief of the Ministry of Public Security Office; representatives from various departments of the Ministry of Public Security; along with the leadership and members of the Ho Chi Minh City Police.

Lieutenant General Le Hong Nam, director of the Ho Chi Minh City Police, said that in April and May 2025, the city would organize many activities to mark the 50th anniversary of the liberation of southern Vietnam and Reunification Day and the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh. These events are of great importance both domestically and internationally and are a source of pride for the people of the city and the entire country.

To effectively carry out this campaign, the director of the Ho Chi Minh City Police asked each unit, leader, and officer to ensure thorough understanding of security and order situations early, from a distance, and at the grassroots level; proactively forecast the situation, targets, and related issues in each area and sector, thus providing timely advice to local Party committees and authorities to avoid being passive or caught off guard in any situation.

It is important to ensure absolute safety for key targets, important projects, and significant events, as well as provide security for the leadership of the Party and state, international delegations, and international conferences.

Nam also emphasized the need to conduct a special campaign combined with high-intensity crime prevention and suppression efforts, ensure that the high-intensity campaign, with specific objectives, a higher workload, and more decisive measures, targets the prevention and suppression of various crimes, particularly the five types of crime that still pose potential risks and have complex developments: drug-related crimes, black credit, street crimes, cybercrime, and crimes involving foreigners.

They were instructed to strengthen the management of security and public order, closely monitor conditional business sectors and establishments with potential criminal risks, and carry out effective patrols and inspections to proactively prevent, detect, and address crimes and violations.

Nam emphasized the need for decisive and responsible implementation of the campaign, with close monitoring of each area and sector, and swift, coordinated efforts between police units and other relevant forces.

Colonel Nguyen Tien Dat, head of the Ho Chi Minh City Police’s Criminal Investigation Division, accepted the assignment on behalf of the entire force, pledging to carry out all orders with determination and ensure the campaign’s success.

Speaking at the campaign launching ceremony, Hai, the permanent vice-chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, urged the police, military, and local security forces to be proactive to effectively address complex situations at the grassroots level.

He emphasized the importance of ensuring absolute safety for key targets, critical infrastructure, and major political, cultural, and social events in the country, as well as ensuring the security and safety of activities involving Party and state leaders, international delegations, and international conferences held in the city.
