-- Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and State President Vo Van Thuong hosted separate receptions in Hanoi on Friday afternoon for Politburo member, Director of the Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee's Commission for Foreign Affairs and Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi, who is in Vietnam to attend the 15th session of the Vietnam - China Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation.

-- Dubai Crown Prince Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum during a meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Friday said that Dubai is willing to share its experience in developing an international finance center with Vietnam.

-- All vehicles are banned from entering the Pham Ngoc Thach Street section bounded by Le Duan Boulevard and Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 1 from 9:00 pm on Friday to 0:00 am on Sunday to serve events of the 2023 National Volunteer Day.

-- Authorities in Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa Province, south-central Vietnam proposed piloting swimming and scuba diving at four new diving spots in Nha Trang Bay to ease overtourism at Hon Rom Island, which became overwhelmed after another diving site at Hon Mun Nature Reserve was closed for coral ecosystem restoration.

-- Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Group Chief Executive of Standard Chartered Bill Winters co-chaired an event on mobilizing finance to implement Vietnam’s commitment to climate change in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Friday. The event was part of the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP28) held in the UAE from November 30 to December 12.

-- China remained Vietnam’s largest import market in the year to November, with a total turnover reaching an estimated US$99.6 billion, while the U.S. was the biggest buyer of Vietnamese products during the same period, with a turnover of some $88 billion, according to official data.

-- Ho Chi Minh City attracted more than $3 billion of foreign direct investment in the January-November period this year, down 12.9 percent year on year, according to the city’s Statistics Office.
